6. Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act (Effective March 4, 2026)

The Homebuyers Privacy Protection Act, signed into law on September 5, 2025 and effective March 4, 2026, restricts credit reporting agencies from sharing your mortgage credit inquiry data as a “trigger lead” with other lenders without your explicit consent, unless they have an existing relationship with you.

This means that when you apply for a mortgage with us, your credit inquiry is significantly less likely to be sold to other lenders who may then solicit you with competing offers. We support this law and are committed to protecting your privacy throughout the mortgage process.
